perspective project
This is a sketch of my first idea for our Perspective Project. For the project, I had to take a shape and think of an object that is similar-but not exactly-like that shape. Then I had to take that object and put into a perspective scene fifteen times.
- Discuss your decision on pen and ink techniques. Why you chose to use one or more. I used pointalism on the mermaids mainly with the tails and hair. One mermaid did not fill the space enough, so I drew multiple mermaids; each a different size and shape. For the water that the mermaids are in, I used lots of lines going off around the top right where the sun shines through the water.
- How did you use perspective? Why is perspective important? The perspective is one point which is in the sun shining through the water. Perspective helps catches the eyes and leads it to believe that there is space in the artwork.
- How is texture important in your composition? I used texture in the water and in the details of the mermaids. Without the texture, the mermaids would look as if they were floating in nothing and they would look dull.
- Why is value so important in this project? Value in my artwork shows the deepness of the water and brings out the shine of the sun through the water.
- Describe your craftsmanship (How well the project is crafted technically). I spent a lot of time on the mermaids but the water surrounding them is a little messy. I could have made it look more realistic by shaping the water right around the mermaids to the shape of the mermaids themselves.
- If you could recreate your piece what would you do differently to enhance your final outcome? I would make the value more smoother in the water and shape it to the shape of the mermaids.

painting
painting in the style of a famous artist
For this project, I used this picture that I took and my artist was Edward Munch.
This was my process for the project. I began with a red underpaint and then added the background. I kept my strokes controlled and long. I painted a basic gray, black, and white on the skeleton and added in details with different shades of those three colors. I went over the background with green and brown and then a bit of orange. I added some of that red and orange to the face of the skeleton to add some dramatic effect. The picture on the far right is my final.
Critique Questions:
1.Who was your referenced artist for the painting? Name 4 main ideas you used from your research to create your painting.
Edward Munch was my reference artist and I used his depression and dramatic view of situations in his artwork in my own. I used his controlled and long brush strokes and his orange background.
2.Describe the craftsmanship of your painting. (Is it neat and well executed?)
It's very close to looking like Edward Munch's style. The lines in the fabric of the skeleton should be more controlled and a little more value needs to be added to the face of the skeleton.
3.What was the most difficult part of this project?
Getting the details right and keeping the strokes controlled.
4.Describe your color choices and how they reflect the work of your chosen artist?
I mostly used dark colors because Edward did. He also used reds and oranges in the background so I used them, too.
5.Describe how the style of your landscape reflects your chosen artist.
It's dark, depressing, creepy, and dramatic like Edward's.
6.What do you think your chosen artist would say if he or she could see your painting today?
Hopefully, he would be respectful. I honestly don't know what he would say because like many artists in the past, he might not have thought highly of his own paintings.
7.What would you do differently if you were to do this project again?
Have a little more detail in the fabric and more value in the face of the skeleton.

Clay project
These are my refrences; they are both from the internet.
I scored and slipped the eggs on the plate and then scored and slipped the top so I could swirl the yoke on the egg. I also added a cup and decorated it.
After it fired in the kilm, I painted it all.
Critique Questions
1. My craftsmanship is fairly neat. The colors look really well together. I wish I had more time to not rush on the cup.
2. The most difficult part of this project was molding the clay and getting it to stay in the shape I wanted.
3. My color choices worked together in harmony.
4. Other than the little tilt the cup has, I think my sculpture looks interesting from all sides.
5. Doing something 3D like a sculpture takes a lot more time and effort.
6. I created texture by carving designs and shaping the clay into the way I wanted it to look.
7. My plate and cup doesn't look real but I think my eggs looks pretty realistic.
8. I would try to use more of my time to really work on making it as perfect as I could.

printmaking
Here are a few progress pictures.

Critique Questions
1. For a printmaking project, it turned out decent. Some lines are didn't match up with each other but it worked out where there is still a pterodactyl in the picture.
2. I put texture in the mountains and I made sure the colors where separated to keep the picture clear.
3. I would make sure the the colors lined up more and use lighter colors for somethings.
